Are there places on your bucket list that you have not yet visited? There may also be some you may never be able to go to like the Moon and Mars. Thanks to the Internet you can travel virtually to many of these places. This course will introduce you to some of the resources provided free by Google including Google Maps, Google Earth, and Google Cultural Institute. You can raft through the Grand Canyon, go by boat on the Amazon, walk the beaches of remote Pacific islands, stroll many of the streets in cities, villages, and remote or familiar places all over the world, and visit many of the world’s museums. You may want to revisit places you have already been or preview places you are thinking about going. This course will give you pointers on how to use resources to do these things.

This course will cover some of the same material as the CC266 Google Maps and Google Earth such how to use Google Maps and Google Earth to get satellite and street views of places you would like to visit. It will not cover how to get directions or search for addresses and businesses. It will cover subjects not covered by CC266 such as the Google Cultural Institute which are useful for exploring places, art, and history. CAUTION: Virtual travel may be addictive.

This course is intended for those already comfortable with basic computer operation including Internet operations and use of an email account with your user ID and password.

It is useful to have a free Google account. If you already have Gmail, you already have a Google account. If not we will help you get one during the first class session with or without a Gmail
