This Level 2 course is a hands on workshop designed to acquaint you with the many home uses of a spreadsheet. A spreadsheet is not all numbers. We will use Google Sheets in class (it is a free, very useful spreadsheet program), but will talk about and be compatible with Excel, OpenOffice, LibreOffice and most other spreadsheet programs. You will need one of these programs (or use the Computer Lab computers) to do the required homework between sessions. A Chromebook computer will work nicely for this, too.

This workshop is not for computer beginners. Some experience using a spreadsheet is desirable but not a course requirement. This is an “Introduction to the Spreadsheet” class, many advanced features of LibreOffice or Excel will NOT be taught. An hour or so of homework spreadsheets between class sessions will be assigned and your results will be shared in class. The class will emphasize basics using small examples with a minimum of typing. The homework will require more extensive typing.

On completion of this class you will be able to make and use spreadsheets for home budgets, Christmas card lists, etc.

Participants must be familiar with computers and mouse use. This includes use of "Ctrl" and "Alt" keys, mouse pointing, clicking, and dragging. Generally, using Gmail or completing a Level 1 class will be sufficient. If you have concerns, please contact the instructor.
